One of the largest mistakes a customer can do is call several moving companies and decide to use the lowest priced one without finding out about that company. Any one that quotes prices without finding out information about your move is not a company to move with.

Without asking questions, how do they know that they are sending out the right amount of movers? To make a move go smoothly moving companies have to have details about the your specific moving needs. Be cautious if one moving company is lower than everyone else by a large amount. They may be "baiting" you.

Baiting is when a moving company gives you a low estimate. As soon as they’ve loaded your furniture and personal belongings onto their truck they try to change the rates. Sometimes doubling or tripling the original quote. If you refuse the new price, they will refuse to give you your belongings until you pay the new higher price.

Make sure you're using a reputable moving company. Review the Federal Motor Carrier Saftey Administration website at www.protectyourmove.gov to research a mover's qualifications and for more helpful tips.
